Remote gambling operators in Estonia, benefiting from a legislative error that initially exempted them from 2026 tax obligations, have voluntarily contributed over €1.4 million to the Ministry of Finance as of this week. According to Ministry of Finance spokesperson Siiri Suutre, approximately €815,000 was received in February and around €595,000 in March (with more expected). The estimated tax liability based on January and February income was around €3.5 million, slightly less than the initial estimate of €4 million. The February contributions covered the approximately €778,000 allocation to the Cultural Endowment (KULKA) from January's revenue. The error in the Gambling Tax Act, corrected in February, initially resulted in zero remote gambling tax for the year, impacting the projected €27 million revenue for 2024.
