Penn Entertainment announced that the Aurora riverboat casino will close on June 10, with gaming operations continuing until 5:59 a.m. that day. The closure is part of a redevelopment agreement requiring the demolition of the existing barge, building, and walkway over the Fox River. The new $360 million land-based casino, located at 2500 N. Farnsworth Ave. and adjacent to the Chicago Premium Outlets, is scheduled to open on June 24 pending regulatory approvals. The new facility will feature a 226-room hotel, over 1,200 table and machine gaming stations, a sports betting operation, a spa, and an event center. Unused chips from the riverboat casino can be cashed in at the new casino cage until December 31, 2026. The company also noted that the hotel began accepting reservations in May and will launch a new website on June 10.
