Petersburg casino revenue bounces back in May
Summary
Petersburg's Live! Casino Virginia rebounded strongly in May, reporting an adjusted gross revenue (AGR) of $14.91 million, an increase of about $1.1 million from April. This figure brings the casino back in line with the $15 million totals seen in February and March. The revenue boost was driven by a $200,000 increase in slot machine revenue to $10.7 million and a $900,000 rise in game-table play to $4.2 million. Since opening on Jan. 22, the casino has generated approximately $62 million in total AGR. Statewide, Virginia's five casinos generated $19.5 million in total state tax, with Live! Casino contributing almost $2.7 million, of which $895,000 will go to Petersburg. Caesars Virginia in Danville remained the top revenue generator with $38 million, followed by Rivers Casino in Portsmouth at $30.1 million and Hard Rock in Bristol at $24.2 million. Petersburg and Norfolk operate in temporary buildings as they await the opening of their $1.4-billion and $750-million resort projects, respectively, scheduled for late 2027.
