The Detroit-based corporate empire behind Little Caesars Pizza and the Detroit Tigers is set to acquire Scarlet Pearl Casino in D'Iberville, Mississippi. This strategic move is part of a major expansion under the newly formed Ilitch Gaming division. The corporation, which already owns MotorCity Casino Hotel in Detroit, is also moving toward full ownership of Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey. John Policicchio, CEO of Ilitch Gaming, emphasized the company's commitment to supporting great teams, delivering exceptional guest experiences, investing in communities, and responsibly growing the business. The casino, previously held by Coast-based Land Holdings I and opened in 2015, has paid $30 million in gaming taxes, with $18 million returning to D'Iberville. The facility employs approximately 800 people and will continue operating as usual until the transaction closes.
