Luxury Leisure, which runs the Admiral casino on St Stephens Street, has proposed removing the 7 am–2 am restriction to allow 24‑hour operation. The council had previously denied a two‑hour extension, citing negative impacts on neighbours and concerns about late‑night drinking. An inspectorate report argued that lower background noise after midnight would make casino noise more noticeable but predicted minimal impact on residents, and it added a condition that the premises remain closed from 2 am to 7 am to protect neighbours. "St Stephens Street is a main road open to buses and taxis, but after midnight, noise from traffic and other sources noise will have reduced." The council is expected to decide by the end of August.
