Clark County commissioners have approved a new residential development by Lennar Corp. on the site of the former Eastside Cannery casino. The project will transform the 29.5-acre property into a subdivision featuring 279 two-story single-family homes, two parks, and a trail.
Despite initial recommendations from county staff to pursue higher-density housing due to transit access, the commission approved the single-family home plan. Concerns regarding short 5-foot driveways were addressed by Lennar's representative, who noted that two-car garages and additional parking spaces would mitigate street congestion.
This redevelopment follows the demolition of the Eastside Cannery hotel tower by Boyd Gaming Corp. after the pandemic rendered the casino non-viable. This marks another instance of Lennar redeveloping former casino footprints in Southern Nevada, similar to their work at the former Texas Station site.
