16 held, 35 wanted after Gujarat Police raid 'gambling den' in Mehsana

The State Monitoring Cell (SMC) of Gujarat Police raided an alleged gambling den in an open field at Jilani Farm near Poida village in Mehsana district. Led by Police Inspector P.P. Brahmbhatt and Police Sub-Inspector V.N. Jadeja, the team arrested 16 individuals and seized cash, vehicles, and mobile phones valued at Rs 39 lakh. Police have declared 35 more people wanted, including Arif Abdulbhai Saiyed, identified as the alleged main accused and operator of the den, and Jilani Hanifbhai Sindhi, who allegedly provided the premises. Several other identified persons, such as Karansingh Kirtisingh Solanki and Ganeshbhai Parmar, are also wanted. During the raid, one person identified as Savanbhai fled in an SUV, and 20 unidentified individuals escaped. A case has been registered under the Prevention of Gambling Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The raid is part of ongoing efforts to combat illegal gambling in Gujarat, following a similar operation at Manpasand Gymkhana in Ahmedabad earlier this month.
