Downtown Las Vegas casino shows off new ‘elevated’ high-limit slot room
Summary
The Plaza Hotel-Casino in downtown Las Vegas has opened a new 2,000-square-foot high-limit slot room featuring 53 machines and dedicated amenities designed to offer an "elevated service experience" and privacy. CEO Jonathan Jossel explained that the investment responds to an evolving downtown clientele seeking more than just higher denomination games; they want personalized services like a concierge desk for hotel check-ins and reservations, dedicated ATM and ticket redemption, complimentary beverages, lounge seating, and 24/7 cocktail service. The room utilizes Acres cashless gaming technology enabling mobile fund access and Apple Pay, plus unattended jackpot processing to minimize wait times for frequent high-limit payouts. Notably, the federal tax reporting threshold for jackpots recently increased from $1,200 to $2,000. The space, previously walled off since the pandemic, is designed to let high-limit players "hide away" while maintaining sightlines to the casino floor. It incorporates design elements from other Plaza venues and can convert for private events. The launch includes promotions like a $10,000 slot tournament hosted by influencer Travel Ruby and a chance to win a Virgin cruise. This project continues the Plaza's strategy of reinvestment, including recent additions like Carousel Bar and a smoke-free gaming area, with more food and beverage concepts planned.
