The suspects are identified as HD, 62, a member of a Banten-based jawara organisation; businessman AN, 56; and employee EAK, 43. The investigation follows the case of Indonesian businessman Steven, who allegedly used 34 counterfeit $10,000 notes over three visits to the RWS casino in June. The notes were accepted and exchanged for casino chips before being found fake. Steven's lawyer claims he was a victim of fraud, having received the notes as payment for a shophouse, while AN's lawyer also asserts his client is a victim and that the notes originated from HD. Evidence includes videos showing the handover of notes. The $10,000 note was first issued in 1973 and discontinued in 2014, but existing notes remain legal tender. Those convicted of using counterfeit notes in Singapore may face up to 20 years in jail.
