Former Bob & Berts site in Preston city centre set to become a 24/7 Admiral Casino
Summary
Preston City Council has approved a planning application to convert the ground floor of 82 Fishergate, formerly a Bob & Berts cafe, into an adult gaming centre (AGC) operated by Admiral Casino. The Bob & Berts branch opened in November 2021 but closed without notice in November 2025, and the unit had previously been vacant for six years before that. The applicant, Luxury Leisure (part of the Novomatic Group), which runs over 300 Admiral gaming venues in the UK with more than 3,000 staff, received approval late last month. Two further applications have since been submitted: one for a new shopfront, cladding and fascia boards, and another for an internally illuminated fascia and projecting sign. Drawings confirm the AGC will be an Admiral Casino with navy signage advertising "slots", "gaming", "online" and "Casino- slots experience". Internally, existing seating and the serving area will be removed to create a large gaming area, with the kitchen becoming a staffroom and store. The venue is proposed to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with 12 full-time staff.
