The Bronx is getting a new casino and a reimagined Ferry Point Park, too
Summary
Bronx Community Board 10 members are set to weigh in on a $160 million makeover of Ferry Point Park, part of a massive redevelopment that includes a new Bally's casino. The park improvements, designed by landscaping company Hargreaves Jones, feature new playgrounds, landscaping, athletic fields, and other amenities. The casino, a $4 billion development that includes a 3 million-square-foot resort, thousands of gaming machines, and a 2,000-person event center, will sit in the middle of the improved park. Bally's has bought the property, previously leased by the Trump Organization, for over $150 million. While some community members have raised concerns about the lack of public transit and the mix of amenities, the project is billed as the largest private development in the borough's history. Bally's Bronx is one of three downstate casinos licensed in December. The park improvement project is not expected to break ground until 2028.
