Locals casino promotes UNLV grad to senior VP of operations
Summary
Boyd Gaming has promoted Rick Goldstein, a UNLV graduate, to senior vice president of operations for the Suncoast, Aliante and Cannery hotel-casinos. Goldstein, who has over 30 years of gaming experience and more than 10 years with Boyd Gaming, joined the company in 2016 as assistant general manager of Kansas Star Casino in Wichita, and was promoted in 2023 to vice president and general manager of Suncoast. In his new role, he will continue as Suncoast GM while overseeing operations at Aliante and Cannery. The article also provides background on Boyd Gaming's acquisitions: Suncoast, built by Michael Gaughan's Coast Casinos in 2000, was acquired by Boyd in 2004 for $1.3 billion; Aliante was purchased in 2016 for $380 million; and the Cannery and Eastside Cannery were bought in 2016 for $230 million. The Eastside Cannery closed in 2020, was imploded in March, and the land was sold in September for nearly $29 million.
