Pagcor is developing a mobile app, expected as early as December, that will let users check whether an online gambling platform is licensed by Pagcor, helping them avoid illegal operators. The regulator has signed a five-year partnership with the Development Bank of the Philippines and Data Center Inc. to build, host and run the platform, subject to a six-month assessment of a minimum viable product covering features, architecture, security and feasibility. The app must also comply with data privacy, cybersecurity and information-security rules. Pagcor is coordinating with the Department of Information and Communications Technology, National Telecommunications Commission and Cybercrime Investigation and Coordination Center to go after illegal online gambling operators. Pagcor Chair and CEO Alejandro Tengco said the platform will give players a reliable way to verify licensed platforms and make informed choices.
