On Friday, Malpe police in Udupi conducted a raid near a resort in Kadekar village, resulting in the arrest of five men involved in illegal gambling. The raid, conducted around 10:50 pm near Padukere stream estuary, uncovered playing cards, Rs 4.9 lakh in cash, four mobile phones, a power bank, and two vehicles valued at Rs 34 lakh, totaling seized valuables worth Rs 38.9 lakh. One individual managed to escape during the operation. The arrested individuals have been identified as Nithin Raj, Sachin R Shetty, Sathish alias Kishore, Ranjith K Ameen, and Ravi. A case has been registered under Section 112 of the BNS and Section 87 of the Karnataka Police Act.
