On Friday evening, Pathapalya police in Chikkaballapura raided an illegal gambling operation in Tholapalli village, resulting in the arrest of 19 individuals and the seizure of over Rs 9 lakh in stake money. The raid, led by circle inspector M Srinivas and PSI Ganesh, targeted a group of around 21 people playing gambling games, including the banned “Andhar Bahar.” Several of the accused had traveled from neighboring Andhra Pradesh to participate. Two individuals fled the scene, leaving their belongings behind. Police seized cash, 15 mobile phones, and two two-wheelers. This raid follows a larger crackdown during the Ugadi festival, where 82 cases were registered and approximately 475 people were arrested, with nearly Rs 6 lakh seized. SP Kushal Chouskey stated that the department is committed to curbing illegal activities and will continue to take strict action against offenders.
