DigiPlus-backed casino goes to online gaming
Summary
DigiPlus Interactive Corp.'s newly acquired casino arm is expanding into online gaming as part of its plan to build a digital-and-physical entertainment ecosystem. Hong Kong-listed International Entertainment Corp. (IEC), soon to be controlled by DigiPlus after its P12-billion investment is converted, said its subsidiary New Coast Leisure Inc. (NCLI) signed a nonexclusive cooperation agreement with Total Gamezone Xtreme Inc. (TGXI), a wholly owned DigiPlus unit. The deal covers integration, aggregation, provision, technical support, and operation of approved online games and related content connected to LaVie Resort & Casino Manila's online gaming platform. It runs for two years initially, renewable annually, with revenue sharing based on each party's contributions. DigiPlus completed the final stage of its roughly P12-billion investment and will hold 53.89% of IEC after convertible notes are converted. NCLI already has Pagcor online gaming accreditations and licenses; legal advisers confirmed regulatory compliance, and an internal-control review found no significant deficiencies, though it recommended stronger compliance procedures. The partnership lets IEC enter the fast-growing Philippine online gaming market without building a platform from scratch, supported by regulatory reforms and rising digital gaming adoption.
