Appleton man charged with shooting brother in the back at Oneida Casino

Long Thao, 39, of Appleton, was charged with attempted first-degree intentional homicide and other felonies after shooting his brother in the back at the Oneida Casino parking ramp on June 20. According to a criminal complaint, the shooting occurred around 1:53 a.m. when Thao pulled out a handgun and shot his brother after an argument that began the previous night. Surveillance footage showed Thao and his brother talking in the ramp before Thao shot his brother in the back. Thao was identified as the suspect and was found driving his car on State 172, where he was taken into custody. He faces multiple charges, including possessing a firearm as a convicted felon and operating a firearm while intoxicated. Thao was convicted in 2016 of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and was subject to a domestic abuse injunction at the time of the shooting. He remains in custody at the Brown County Jail on a $750,000 bail.
