After 25 years on the Halifax waterfront, Casino Nova Scotia is moving to a new location at Dartmouth Crossing, a prominent shopping district. The provincial government announced a deal with Great Canadian Entertainment to own, operate, and maintain the new facility. Acting Finance and Treasury Board Minister Timothy Halman stated that Great Canadian possesses the necessary expertise for continued success and that the move will allow for new development in downtown Halifax. The current Halifax casino property will be sold in the coming weeks but will remain operational until the new facility is completed. The Casino Nova Scotia location in Sydney will not be affected by this change. In 2025, casino operations in Halifax and Sydney generated $41.6 million for the province.
