Peoria may drop objections to Boyd Gaming's new casino in East Peoria
Summary
The Peoria City Council is scheduled to meet on Monday to consider a settlement agreement with Boyd Gaming regarding the replacement of the Par-A-Dice Riverboat Casino in East Peoria. If approved, Peoria will receive a percentage of the adjusted gross gaming revenues from the new facility, and the city will withdraw its objections to the project. This proposal aims to resolve a 1991 dispute concerning the location of a land-based casino, which originally stipulated it be built on the Peoria side of the river. The new casino, estimated to cost $160 million, will feature 29,000 square feet of casino space, a ballroom, a steakhouse, and a gastropub, and is expected to be completed in late 2028.
