Petersburg city officials are considering extending Wagner Road westward from South Crater Road to Flank Road, aiming to enhance access to Live! Casino Virginia, the Petersburg Sports Complex, Richard Bland College, and Dogwood Trace Golf Course. City Manager March Altman believes this extension could create a direct connection for visitors and open up approximately 80 acres of land for future business development. Currently, traveling between Wagner and Flank Roads requires two turns; the extension would provide a more direct route. The city is also exploring potential zoning changes around the casino and along Crater Road. The Planning Commission will weigh in on the proposal as part of the city’s comprehensive plan.
