Shuttered Las Vegas casino is being demolished
Summary
The Eastside Cannery hotel-casino on Boulder Highway in Las Vegas is currently being demolished, following the issuance of a $7.5 million demolition permit in October. Owned by Boyd Gaming Corp., the property had been shuttered since March 2020, when Nevada casinos were initially closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. Boyd Gaming stated there wasn’t enough market demand to reopen the casino and is planning to sell the 29.5-acre property for residential development. The company purchased the land itself last February for $45 million. Before demolition, the property was used by Three Square Food Bank for food distribution and by local police and fire departments for training exercises.
