Relocation of casino vessel near Patto bridge is temporary: Captain of Ports
Summary
The Captain of Ports department has permitted Delta Corp to temporarily relocate the offshore casino vessel MV Horseshoe (Deltin Royale) near the Patto bridge in Panaji, Goa, until April 30th. This move is to facilitate the arrival of a larger 112-meter vessel, which will replace the MV Horseshoe at Verem. The existing Royale Floatel will be moved from the River Mandovi to make way for the new vessel, expected to accommodate over 1,000 people, significantly more than the current capacity of 390. Residents, led by AAP state president Valmiki Naik and activist Sabina Martins, have protested the move, urging the Captain of Ports to deny entry to the new vessel if it lacks proper documentation. Captain of Ports Octavio Rodrigues stated he will only prevent the vessel's entry if it doesn't have the necessary statutory documents and survey certificates. The department also plans to implement an app for real-time tracking of casino vessel occupancy and has proposed a dedicated firefighting tug and water ambulance.
