Great Canadian Entertainment (GCE) and the Semiahmoo Development Corporation (SDC) have reached an agreement for the sale of Elements Casino Surrey, located on the Cloverdale Fairgrounds. This marks the eighth B.C. casino GCE has sold to a First Nation in recent years, following a 2021 acquisition by Apollo Global Management and HPS Investment Partners. The sale is subject to financial commitments, regulatory approvals, and the City of Surrey’s approval, as the city owns the land. Semiahmoo First Nation Chief Harley Chappell stated the acquisition will strengthen economic opportunities for the Nation and support their community, creating employment and prosperity within their traditional territory. GCE CEO Matt Anfinson expressed excitement about the Semiahmoo First Nation entering the casino sector.
