The Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention (MCSP) and the Bristol County Suicide Prevention Coalition are hosting a 90-minute virtual workshop on March 11th to increase understanding of suicide risk, warning signs, and how to offer support. The session will be an informal, knowledge-based discussion, not a clinical training, and participants are encouraged to bring their own meals. The workshop will cover the emotional experience of suicidal despair, empathetic responses, and next steps for further training. A 2025 study highlighted a link between video game addiction and suicidal thoughts in adolescents, with over 40% showing signs of addiction. Presenter Sarah Gaer, a mental health expert with over 25 years of experience, will lead the session, drawing on frameworks like Psychological First Aid and the L.I.S.T.E.N. training model. Registered participants will also be invited to a follow-up roundtable in June.
